The Open Sail sailing school is open to all levels: you will progress thanks to the advice of our qualified and experienced instructors during our internships on recent and high-performance sailboats (it is in going fast that you learn quickly !).

Excellent way to become autonomous on board a sailboat and to have a solid knowledge of the various current boats as well as their specific equipment, our practical training courses (navigations with topics such as harbor manœuvres, security, spinnaker, night, big weather, solo or reduced crew, regatta, ...) and theoretical (navigation, weather, routing, sextant, preparation for a round-trip transatlantic, offshore license) are there for you.

Coastal and offshore navigation with night at sea or port stop during which you will fully benefit from the different aspects of a life on board while training yourself in the techniques necessary for autonomy on a sailboat. The on-board monitor adapts his instructions according to the level and objectives of each team member.

The purpose is generally for trainees to hire, buy a boat, integrate a crew for a cruise or simply the pleasure of knowing how to sail aboard a sailboat in complete safety.

Program:
Safety (technical handling of the sailboat, specific manœuvres), navigation (point on nautical chart, weather forecast, taking into account the tide, monitoring of the logbook, use of on-board electronics, …), Techniques (spinnaker, gennaker, staysail, reduction, sailing manœuvres, harbor manoeuvres with the engine, mooring buoy,…), night shift, etc.

Cost :
160 € / day / person (price including the provision of the boat + certified instructor + insurance + return cleaning + gas + tender gasoline + sheets / tea towels / pillowcases, just add stopover fees + fuel + food).

Limited number of trainees:
Wishing to give priority to the quality of our courses, we voluntarily limit the number of crew on board our sailboats for better education and more comfort.
On our POGO 30: 2 trainees in offshore sailing, 4 in coastal + instructor
On our POGO 36: 3 trainees in offshore sailing, 5 in coastal + instructor
On our POGO 1250 and RM1180: 4 trainees in offshore sailing, 5 in coastal + instructor

These courses are offered to you throughout the year from our bases in the Atlantic, Mediterranean + Caribbean
Training stages in the preparation of a transatlantic race:

> Theoretical training + offshore license:

2h30 lesson in our premises rue de la Trinquette or on our boats in La Rochelle in the evening and on weekends
On the program: understanding the weather systems in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, establishing a route, preparing technically for a semi-deep or deep sea crossing (man + boat), learning to make whipping and splicing, using a sextant, make a point on a nautical chart, a tide calculation, adjust a rigging and the different sails, decompose the theory of the different engine + sails maneuvers, use electronics (VHF, GPS, AIS, navigation software). Cost: 55 € per lesson
You can also pass your deep-sea license: at a time when modern electronic tools on the GPS signal (plotters and other digital applications) allow us to position ourselves in the blink of an eye, it is extremely important to be able to position yourself at all times even in the event of a computer failure and anticipate the road ahead. The offshore license allows you to obtain a recognized diploma and acquire the necessary concepts. Cost: € 385 per training
